(Inver Grove Heights, MN) February 14, 2022 — Inver Grove Heights Fire performed an ice rescue on the Mississippi Monday afternoon. According to IGH FD, a man appeared to be cross-country skiing with his dog when he fell through the ice. By luck, someone heard him yelling. A firefighter went onto the river with a special ice rescue suit to help get him climb out. Other firefighters then pulled the rescue line.
The man was conscious and transported by ambulance. The dog was also rescued and carried off the ice. Other responders included IGH Police Department and MHealth Ambulance.
