Snow Days Bring Joy to Animals at the Minnesota Zoo

Snow Days Minnesota Zoo

(Apple Valley, MN– December 24th, 2024 — While the snow may make travel difficult, it’s a welcomed treat for many at the Minnesota Zoo! The recent snowfall brought joy and excitement to the zoo’s residents, with Asian wild horses and camels seen galloping through the fresh powder, and Marty McFly, the fast-as-lightning pine marten, along with the zoo’s pair of wolverines, experiencing the “snow zoomies.”

Snow days are an excellent time to visit the zoo. Animals along the Zoo’s Northern Trail and Minnesota Trail, all hailing from northern climates, tend to delight in the flurries. Their playful antics in the snow provide a unique and entertaining spectacle for visitors.

Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Minnesota Zoo celebrated the Winter Solstice with special winter-themed animal enrichment activities. Guests enjoyed educational tabling and a special “Snow Emergency” drink available for purchase at the Zoo’s Penguin Café.

The Winter Solstice celebration offers a perfect opportunity for families to experience the joy of the season while learning about the zoo’s animals and their adaptations to cold climates. The zoo’s commitment to animal welfare and education is highlighted through these engaging and informative events.

Bundle up and head to the Minnesota Zoo this weekend to witness the winter wonderland and the animals that thrive in it. For more information, visit the Minnesota Zoo website.
