(Minneosta) The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is offering free admission to all 75 Minnesota state parks and recreation areas on Saturday, Feb. 19. This “Free Park Day” is one of four days each year on which the DNR waives entrance fees to state parks. The entrance fee waiver does not cover activities like camping, rentals or tours. The goal of Free Park Days is to get all Minnesotans outdoors.

Downtown Mankato plays host to art of monumental proportions. Artist Guido van Helten painted the mural on the Ardent Mills silos in 2020. Each Silo is 135 feet tall. The Murals of Sauk Center is an on going project. Artist Roger Reinardy is responsible for their creation. According to Visit Sauk Centre’s website, Reinardy had a “lifetime career as a commercial artist who designed beautifully artistic counted cross stitch and needlepoint projects. But when he moved home to Sauk Centre, he began to expand his horizons” All of the Murals are within walking distance if you park downtown.

(Inver Grove Heights, MN) February 14, 2022 — Inver Grove Heights Fire performed an ice rescue on the Mississippi Monday afternoon. According to IGH FD, a man appeared to be cross-country skiing with his dog when he fell through the ice. By luck, someone heard him yelling. On November 15th, 2021 the Cherry was separated from the Spoon, taken down and shipped to New York to be refinished.
