Alexandria College brought two teams to compete in the event. One team was composed of first-year students and the other of second-year students. The teams demonstrated exceptional skill and resilience in a demanding cybersecurity environment designed to emulate real-world scenarios. The first-year student team placed 7th, and the second-year students finished 2nd place, securing a spot in the upcoming national competition in Tampa, Florida.
The 2CDC competition provides a platform for students new to the field or in the early stages of their training to test their skills. The multi-stage event requires participants to perform a comprehensive cyber risk assessment, make security recommendations, and defend a simulated workplace system against penetration attempts. The competition format encourages critical thinking and allows students to gain experience in prioritizing system assets, managing limited resources, and responding to cybersecurity threats.
Competing in the 2CDC allowed the Alexandria College students to dive into hands-on, real-world cybersecurity challenges, develop their defense skills, and expand their professional networks. Designed as an entry point into cybersecurity competitions, 2CDC helps students prepare for more advanced events like the Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition, the National Cyber League, and the U.S. Cyber Games.
As the second-year team moves forward to represent Alexandria College at the national level in Florida, both teams’ performances reflect the college’s commitment to providing students with rigorous, career-oriented training in cybersecurity.
